Who and Why

Being more successful in business is not just about being the best at what you do, it's about connecting with people and creating relationships - but we cannot do that unless we feel really comfortable and confident that we are communicating effectively. Usually you only get one chance to make a first impression and that impression has to be a good one.

In the competitive environment in which we work it makes all the difference to speak the language of business, like a local, because that's when the real communication starts. You want to be able to make your counterpart focus on your message, not on your mistakes.

If this resonates with you, Sylvia Clements from Stand By Bussum and Richard Kohn from Kohnsulting invite you to the prize winning Language Exchange week, a Dutch-English interactive immersion training course for businesspeople looking to improve their foreign language communication skills.

What’s different about this course?

You’ll acquire as much of your skills from your peers as you will from the facilitators. As you learn Dutch-English, you will be working side by side with native speakers, who want to learn your language: You help them, they help you – we call it tandem learning.

If you are looking for a painless way of improving your business language skills that focuses on the person and not the process, the Language Exchange week is the answer. Not only will we help you to improve and perfect your business language skills using our innovative and highly interactive learning scheme, you'll learn a lot about yourself and how to be better in business.

What makes this different?

Over our five day, full time residential training course, while acquiring and developing your language skills, you will also get the chance to develop business ideas, brainstorm your greatest business challenges with your peers, learn about creating high performance cultures, undertake compelling personal development exercises and complete critical communication projects designed to improve your chances of business success.

We work on the principle that you learn best by doing or teaching what you like. So, during this training course, you will get the chance to work on projects about which you are enthusiastic, or which require your time and energy now – while acquiring improved skills to deal with them in the chosen course language.

You will be spending your time using your business skills, in real life experiences, interacting with your peers and your environment. There are no language classrooms, grammar lessons or ‘by rote’ learning, instead you'll get customised, individual support and encouragement and lots and lots of time to use, practice, improve and perfect your language skills.

This is no easy option because instead of hours spent in language labs you spend those hours with native speakers, using your chosen course language the whole time:  So that the next time you communicate once the week is over, you make a difference and an impact with your audience.
